Helena Nelson

Helena lives in Fife, where she works in a further education college, teaching Communication, English and Creative Writing. Her first book-length collection, Starlight on Water, was a joint prize-winner of the Jerwood First Collection Prize in 2003. A trustee of StAnza, Scotland's poetry festival, she reviews for various magazines, including The Dark Horse, and Ambit. Recently she launched HappenStance, a small press imprint, specialising in poetry chapbooks. Happenstance also publishes Sphinx, a magazine with a mission - namely to promote, celebrate and evaluate poetry in chapbook form.
