wordfringe 2006
A new writers' festival for Aberdeen and North-East Scotland
2 May — 31 May 2006 at various venues in Aberdeen
wordfringe is a new
community-based festival showcasing writers and writing in the North-East of
Scotland. The festival takes place during May 2006 both before and after the
weekend of Word 06, the University of Aberdeen Writers' Festival. The two
festivals will complement each other, with Word bringing some highly respected
writers to Aberdeen, and wordfringe
providing opportunities for many more new writers to appear alongside some more
established names.
Events range from poetry readings and story-telling sessions to events combining
the spoken word with music, dance and video. Many of the writers taking part
live and work in the North-East of Scotland, but we also feature visiting
guests from Shetland, Lewis, Northumberland and Devon.
Several new publications will be launched at wordfringe,
and many more will be available from their authors throughout the festival.
Keep an eye on this website for the latest wordfringe
news. Together with our colleagues at Word 06, we intend to show that the
writing scene in Aberdeen and North-East Scotland is thriving.
