Brian Farrington will read entertaining extracts from his memoir A Rich Soup with Additional Material, violinist Louise Counsell will provide music and there'll be plentiful open mic on the theme of remembrance of things past.

Brian Farrington

Brian Farrington is Irish. He comes from Dublin, and lived in France for 16 years before coming to Aberdeen 45 years ago to work in the University. He is a linguist and has also published a little book on Yeats, two small collections of poetry and a memoir recounting some of the more interesting, or amusing, episodes in his long and variegated life.

Louise Counsell

Louise Counsell (nee Jolly), professional fiddler and composer, trained at Dartington and the Guildhall School of Music. Since then the fiddle has paid the bills with concerts in pubs and posh hotels. Louise has played for the Council for Music in Hospitals, the National Trust and the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra.

She now mainly teaches, but has always written as well. She recently wrote Tree School, a musical, for Finzean Primary School. She composed the incidental music for a highly successful new production of Pilgrim's Progress presented in Banchory. She also made a surprise appearance at the Wordfringe 2009 festival in Aberdeen.
